Marine Genome Project

The Marine Genome Project focuses on using genetic tools for marine conservation efforts, while increasing diversity, inclusion and accessibility to marine science. Participants can extract DNA from strawberries, assemble the genome of fish, build an underwater kelp forest, go on a virtual scuba dive, and help scientist identify different species living in the ocean

The STEMusic Concert Live!

The STEMusic Concert is a high energy concert full of songs and lessons all about STEM! Students will have a chance to watch live experiments, practice solving math problems and learn STEM vocabulary all while being entertained with incredible music. Roy Moye III, also known as "The Singing Engineer", puts on an engaging show with live singing and participation moments that transport students to a STEM universe with songs that will begin to change the narrative on how they experience STEM!

SDSU Center for Autism

Brain-themed coloring and mazes, brain trivia games, Stroop effect demonstration (kids say the color of the word, not what the word says), pipe cleaner neuron activity (kids make a neuron out of pipe cleaner and plastic beads to take home)

Mad Science of San Diego

45 min science show (topic to be determined) 3 or 4 booths (to be confirmed): Magnetism: Discover the wonders of magnetism. Use magnets to defy gravity and levitate objects. • Mad Science Machines: Experiment with everyday physics using wind-up cars, levers, ramps, axles, and pulleys. • Ecstatic Electricity: Explore the basics of electricity and how it travels Optical Illusions: Baffle your mind with fascinating optical illusions. Learn about reflection, lenses, and how light travels

Southwest HS (SD)

The students will be determining how virtual reality goggles impact vital signs like heart rate and breathing rate. It should be pretty interactive. The lead teacher is working with a cohort of Biomedical pathway students. I can send some photos of the equipment.

San Diego State University

Student clubs and outreach organizations from San Diego State University will provide engaging and interactive demonstrations and activities for students and families of all ages. From rocket launches and racecars to marine animals and sound waves, audiences will learn directly from SDSU students in science and engineering about their favorite subjects.

DPR Construction

We are planning to present a hands-on virtual reality experience (using DPR Construction’s own kid-friendly cardboard headsets) that lets visitors, using their own cell phones, follow a URL to a real 3D Building Information Model hosted in the Cloud. The general experience is meant to demonstrate how technology helps our teams bring 2D construction plans to life. We also have some kid-friendly activities such as scavenger hunts and clash detection searches that we can have them participate in, depending on timing.

Pittcon Conference and Exposition

Visitors will launch a rocket, study the amazing properties of water, view microscopic life forms and write a secret message with the magic of science. These hands-on demos will share basic concepts in chemistry, biology, and physics using safe and readily available materials. Booth visitors will be eligible for a free registration to the Pittcon Conference and Exposition which will be held in San Diego in February 2024.
