This Spring, the San Diego Public Library launches its first annual STEAM program, with hands-on programs at each of its 36 locations. The Catalog of Life @ the Library effort is part of a Library citizen science initiative. Spring into STEAM: Bug Out! is geared towards students age 9 to12 and will feature free, hands-on science programs in March, April and May. Inspired by Catalog of Life, these programs will include entomology, coding, bioengineering and more.

Converted shipping container, turned science lab. Full length, with ADA accessable ramp is ~30 ft. long x 10ft wide. Inside the container we'll be running 3 experiments, primarily tied to the "unseen world" (what we cannot see with our naked eye, but can with the help of technology and microscopes) and DNA. If possible, we'd also like a space next to the container for a portable tent that could function as additional activity space.

Cajon Valley Union School District will share some of their innovative maker activities. At Cajon Valley students learn Presentation Literacy by writing and presenting their own TED talks. Students learn computer programing through our partnership with code.org, engineering with Lego EV3 Mindstorm robots, Dash and Dot robots and many more opportunities. Our booth gives attendees a chance to learn about robotics and drive robots. We have formerly exhibited under the name Coleman Tech.

Several Engineering related student created and student demonstrated hands-on activities. - Robotics: * Several remote controlled robots. * Autonomous challenge course robots. * Rubik's cube solver robot. * Mini bug and fish bots for kids. - Coding: * Student programmed computer games. * Student programmed smart phone apps. * Interactive web based coding applications. Note: Visitors will have a chance to interact with all the activities mentioned above.

Swing by our booth to experience fun, interactive, and Naval-relevant STEM activities. We hope to make STEM relevant by moving away from passive learning to hands-on demonstrations of key STEM activities in cyber and robotics.
