We will have a "spin the wheel" trivia and scratch off cards for the opportunity to win MANASD branded items. We will also be sharing about the different educational programs and community resources MANASD offers.
The Brain Observatory
The star activity is a neurocognitive experiment that exemplifies procedural memory. We give the "subject" a task that they have never done before (tracing a star by only looking at the mirrored image) and see how many errors they produce. We have them try this multiple times to show how their muscle memory is being used as they improve on this task.

3D printing and Mechatronics with Cuyamaca Engineering
Come learn and see how 3D printer’s work! We will have a printer running on our table to give you the opportunity to interact with the device! Additionally, we will be demonstrating the power of mechatronics through interactive use of Arduinos. Come learn how to build a circuit and control the circuit with programming!

Our booth activity aims to engage participants with Kumeyaay Science, fostering a connection between modern scientific principles and traditional knowledge. The booth will feature two engaging activities, each offering a hands-on experience that brings to life the intersection of indigenous wisdom and contemporary science. In essence, our booth activity offers a glimpse into the wisdom of the Kumeyaay people and demonstrates the relevance of their scientific practices in today's world.
The Academy of Our Lady of Peace
We will have three interactive displays: Alka Seltzer lava lamp, KidSpark building blocks, and Math24 card game. We will also have physical displays: Pool noodle DNA model (made by Biotech class), Catapult (made by Precalculus classes), and Plant lab display (made by Biotech class).
World of Waves, WOW!
The electromagnetic spectrum will be the star of the show as we use demonstrations to illustrate characteristics of light waves such as wavelength, frequency, and amplitude. We will present the ways we use light to understand what's going on inside the 150 M K plasmas we produce in our study of nuclear fusion.

MADHATTERS KNITS - Hour of Knitting
MADHATTER KNITS volunteer team will put on a tutorial show to teach 45 people to knit a hat for premature babies to donate to Rady's Chlidren's hospital. The step-by-step guidance will create a fully interactive show where participants will be assisted by volunteers.
We would like to set up in the new Art area. A large screen will be put to demonstrate each step of the tutorial.
We will provide knitting looms, and minute by minute direction to get the hats complete.

STEAM Activities including Origami, Saori Loom Weaving, and Robotics & Coding.
Robotics: The students will learn programming robotics and explore coding to move around!
Origami Fun: Discover the magic of origami and paper folding! Engage in fun activities to learn how math is actually a part of the art of origami!.
Loom Weaving: Come learn about weaving with your very own tiny cardboard loom. So many colors, textures and possibilities! We will do a demonstration with Saori Loom.
NSF Center for Synthetic Organic Electrochemistry
Need a recharge? Build a battery! We want to build voltaic piles with participants- a smaller version of the first battery. Stacking zinc, copper, and paper washers dipped in vinegar, participants can build a battery to light an LED light! This activity lets participants learn about the parts of a battery- two electrodes and an electrolyte, and learn about the concepts of voltage and electrochemistry in a safe and engaging way.
