Thrive Public Schools, Team Hypernova

Mrs. Kristina H. Watkins leads her 7th grade STEM class from Thrive Public Schools through the Universe with the help of Big History Project. Students created murals, models and Minecraft manipulations of games synthesizing content. Team Hypernova collaborated to design, code and build portals to mini Minecraft games that will take players through fun and exciting playable challenges covering 13.8 billion years of time: The Big Bang Theory, Stars, Solar System, Earth and Life!

Think Blue San Diego

the think blue booth will contain two 6-7 ft tables (if these can be provided by event coordinator that would be ideal) featuring a variety of giveaways exchanged for participation in a survey/questionnaire. there will also be banners illustrating the storm drain system and an interactive watershed model.

High Tech High Chula Vista

This booth will focus on ways to extend the core day curriculum by engaging students in learning about identification, behavior, and maintenance of fish species as well as reptiles and amphibians. Students will share about opportunities to participate in feedings, hands-on lab maintenance and set up tanks, and will explain the process of receiving training necessary to earn a pet shop certification. They will also share opportunities to network with scientists and members of the pet industry.

San Diego County Credit Union

20x10 space, a pop-up canopy and our inflatable SDCCU cash cube. We feature our iSnap photo booth so attendees can take a picture with fun props and the SD Festival of Science & Engineering logo. We promote financial services and information at our outdoor display counter and feature our interactive credit union/financial literacy trivia question board. We will give away promo giveaways to trivia winners.

Point Loma Nazarene University

Our booth will have activities in the areas of physics (magnetism and spectroscopy) and biology (microscopy involving insects and arachnids, as well as teaching devices designed to help young people understand the concept of evolution). The activities will be designed primarily for children in the kindergarten to middle school levels.

TechKnowHow

The booth will focus on robotics and engineering with the use of Lego components. Students will use different components and learn how STEM is applied to each lego project that is used. Students will also be able to manipulate different projects with the use of block coding to have the lego build perform different functions. At the the booth, students will be exposed to video game design and the behind the scenes on how games come to life with the use of programming and coding.

Protect the Brain Campaign

1) Brain health education: How EEG technology can help with brain recovery and monitoring (worksheets, information, photos, etc.)
2) EEG brain wave interactive activity: Kids can put on helmet (photo op) and see EEG waves their brain is creating
3) Nonprofit brain scan program: Promoting new nonnprofit program free to the public that provides free EEG brain scans for kids to address concussion in youth sports. flyers, giveaways, "spin the wheel" type game.
