STEM Possible

STEM Possible is a career-pathways program geared toward high school juniors and seniors. The objective of STEM Possible is to show San Diego County’s high school students that no matter their interests or strengths, there is a place for them in the region’s science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, industries.

Women in STEM

Postponed

With many of our partner companies issuing new policies around forgoing events, we have made the difficult decision to POSTPONE the Women in STEM event, originally scheduled for March 10th, 2020.

We do intend to host this event in the future, likely in Fall 2020. We invite you to join us then! We will be sure to let each of you know all details for the rescheduled event as soon as we have them.

Women in STEM

Join us on International Women’s Day to celebrate Women in STEM! Middle school, high school and college level attendees are invited to engage with and be motivated by a host of women who have moved the needle in STEM.

X-ray Vision Isn’t Just for Superman: The Leidos® Experience

As a leading supplier of security scanning equipment to the Department of Homeland Security and customs organizations around the world, Leidos is proud to open our doors and introduce San Diego’s kids, parents, teachers, industry leaders and community member to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) as part of the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering.

TritonCubed at UCSD

Visitors will be able to get a glimpse of the process that goes behind designing a CubeSat by building their own. They will be provided with various wood, foam, or 3D printed pieces that mock a CubeSat: walls that can join together, solar panels, radio, batteries, and other sensors. Their assembly will then be put to the test by strapping it onto a rotating wheel and a shake table. If their creation passes the tests, then they're on their way to developing real CubeSats!

STEM Club - Invent Your World with Electronic Textiles

Students will employ their creativity to make wearable electronic textiles that light-up and serve a specific purpose. Students first learn how batteries generate electricity, then learn about conductors and insulators to guide them toward an understanding of open and closed circuits. They will build simple circuits in their design guides using conductive copper tape and LEDs. Finally, they will create a wearable light-up textile using copper tape and felt.
